On October 21, 2020, the World Association of Kazakhs RPO, together with the Otandastar Foundation, with the support of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, held a Small Kurultai of Kazakhs in Uzbekistan in an online format. The event was attended by the Minister of Information and Public Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva, Head of the Department of the Committee for Interethnic Relations and Relations with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan Feruz Bekov, First Deputy Chairman of the RPO "World Association of Kazakhs" Zautbek Turysbekov, Chairman of the Kazakh Cultural Center in Uzbekistan Serikbai Usenov, as well as representatives of the Otandastar Foundation, public and cultural associations of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and others.
During the event, A. Balaeva emphasized that the Republic of Uzbekistan is a fraternal country for Kazakhstan and noted that in our countries languages are related and religion, culture and spirituality are one. She noted the active interaction between the two states and the measures of state support for compatriots abroad.
Z. Turisbekov in his speech touched upon the historical aspect of the residence of ethnic Kazakhs in Uzbekistan, especially noted the friendly relations and the strengthening of cultural and spiritual ties between the two states, and also thanked the Uzbek side for supporting Kazakhstani initiatives in relation to compatriots abroad.
The practice of holding Small Kurultays of Kazakhs abroad is aimed at strengthening humanitarian ties between Kazakhstan and other countries, and is also designed to provide practical assistance to compatriots abroad in preserving traditions and customs, learning the Kazakh language and implementing cultural and humanitarian projects.
