Ethnographic Exhibition of Kazakhstan Opens in Shanghai

24 July 2026

An ethnographic exhibition dedicated to the culture of Kazakhstan has opened in Shanghai. The event was organized by the Shanghai History Museum and the Association of Museums of Almaty, reports the Online Halyk newspaper.

The exhibition features more than 100 unique exhibits showcasing the rich history of Kazakhstan, a key region along the ancient Silk Road. The exhibition presents the stages of the country’s cultural development from the Bronze Age to the present day, highlighting the traditional way of life of nomadic peoples, the aesthetics of traditional crafts, and the richness of their spiritual heritage.

The large-scale exhibition, aimed at strengthening cultural ties between the two countries, will run until August 30. It is worth noting that in 2025, Shanghai and Almaty officially became sister cities.
