Activities of NJSC Otandastar Qory Reviewed at the Meeting of the Public Council under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan

On July 8, 2026, the office of NJSC Otandastar Qory hosted a regular meeting of the Committee on Image Work of the Public Council under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In accordance with the agenda, the Committee members reviewed the key performance results and priority projects of NJSC Otandastar Qory (hereinafter referred to as the Company), implemented in the field of cultural, humanitarian, and informational support for compatriots living abroad.

During the meeting, the Vice-President of the Company, Alibek Zhurkadam, presented a report on the main areas of activity and the results achieved by the Company.

In particular, it was noted that the Information Support Center for Compatriots has processed approximately 35,000 inquiries to date. Citizens receive information and advisory support on issues concerning migration, education, documentation, and obtaining kandas status and citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Currently, the Company maintains continuous engagement with nearly 160 Kazakh cultural centers and public organizations across more than 30 countries worldwide.

 

In recent years, offline events organized by the Company have reached around 40,000 people. These include minor kurultais and forums held abroad, as well as various cultural events and concerts.

As part of the Kazakh language learning projects, more than 2,000 online classes have been organized, with about 4,000 people completing the language courses. Through the "Zhas Qazaq" summer ethno-camp project over the past four years, 637 ethnic Kazakh children were given the opportunity to visit their historical homeland. Currently, more than 5,000 students from the kandas community are studying at higher education institutions in Kazakhstan.

As a result of the Company's information policy, the total audience reach on social media has reached nearly three million people. Furthermore, under the "Uly Dala" (Great Steppe) project, 28 books by Kazakh authors living abroad were published between 2023 and 2025.

During the discussion, members of the Public Council put forward a number of proposals aimed at further improving the Company's operations. Specifically, they raised issues regarding the expansion of the front-office network to provide services to kandases in the country's regions, as well as the resumption of the publication of the "Otandastar" magazine for diaspora members abroad.

Summing up the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee on Image Work of the Public Council, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Mukhit-Ardager Sydyknazarov, gave a positive evaluation of NJSC Otandastar Qory’s efforts to strengthen interaction with compatriots abroad. He also emphasized the importance of further improving the media coverage and digital presence of the Company’s projects and initiatives.

Following the meeting, all the voiced proposals were included in the minutes and recommended for consideration in the planning of the Company's future activities.
