About the Competition

NJSC "Otandastar Qory" and the Republican Public Association "Union of Writers of Kazakhstan" announce the "Uly Dala" international competition for 2026. The goal of the competition is to promote and popularize the Kazakh language, traditions, and culture among ethnic Kazakhs abroad. In addition, to publish a collection of fiction, historical works, and scientific research covering the migration history and life paths of ethnic Kazakhs abroad, their lifestyle and traditions, literature and art, and other topics.

 

Main Goals and Objectives of the Competition

To recognize our national history and culture from a new perspective through the publication of works by famous foreign poets, writers, scholars, and artists about the history, culture and literature, science, education, and art of ethnic Kazakhs abroad, and their contribution to Kazakh spirituality. To widely introduce the names of well-known, prominent ethnic Kazakh representatives who contributed to the history, traditions, literature and culture, science and art, and spiritual development of Kazakhs abroad to the Kazakhstani public. To strengthen the interest of the younger generation in our own history and culture, and to revive national consciousness.

 

Dates and Procedures of the Competition

The Working Group is responsible for the organization and conduct of the competition. Applications and works for participation are accepted until June 1, 2026. Terms of Participation

Ethnic Kazakhs abroad, compatriots, foreign poets and writers, historians, scholars, figures of culture, art and public life, journalists, individuals, and legal entities can participate in the competition. Works related to history, customs and traditions, literature and culture, theater, sports, art, and the scientific field of ethnic Kazakhs abroad, as well as works about historical, famous personalities abroad and labor about them, are submitted to the competition.

Format: Word

Font: Times New Roman, 14 points, line spacing – 1

Participant information: full name, country, age, contact phone number

The author guarantees the transfer of copyrights.

 

Works of the Competition Winners The Organizer will distribute the works of the winners and the published books free of charge to major libraries and scientific-cultural centers of the country. Electronic versions of the books will be posted on the websites of the "Otandastar Qory", major libraries, and the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan.
