Modern medicine is a domain where science, technology, and human responsibility converge. In this field, innovation is measured not only by equipment but also by the culture of thinking, professional ethics, and vision for the future. Our protagonist today is Senol Jadik, PhD in Medicine, a surgeon in the spine department at Al-Razi Hospital in Kuwait. He is a highly skilled specialist who has successfully performed over 6,000 brain and spinal surgeries.

Senol Jadik was born in Mainz, Germany. He is a father of four and is fluent in six languages. We met him at the Forum of Compatriot Scientists in Astana, where we learned about his life and scientific journey. He views himself not merely as a specialist of a specific country, but as a representative of the global medical community. Nevertheless, national roots and cultural responsibility hold a special place in his worldview.

He began his medical education at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and completed his specialized studies at Goethe University Frankfurt. He defended his doctoral degree at one of Europe's most prestigious clinical and scientific centers—the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. These institutions are not just educational facilities but hubs of medical thought and research culture.

Senol Jadik’s professional path is a successful blend of clinical practice and academic service. He served as a department head at Kiel University, leading the neurosurgical intensive care unit. During this period, he gained profound experience in brain tumors, pediatric neurosurgery, vascular pathology, and spinal surgery. In his quarter-century professional career, he has successfully executed hundreds of complex operations. He is particularly recognized as a high-level expert in complex and revision spinal surgeries, endoscopic and minimally invasive techniques, total disc replacement, and robotic surgery.

Furthermore, he has supervised numerous PhD candidates and delivered high-level lectures. He also served as an official examiner for neurosurgical intensive care. He noted that artificial intelligence (AI), navigation systems, and robotics are fundamentally changing the face of modern surgery. In his view, these technologies are shaping new standards in medicine, offering patients significantly increased surgical precision, faster recovery through minimally invasive methods, lower risks of pain and infection, shorter hospital stays, and fewer complications.

"These technologies have not yet become a fully standardized treatment method. But we must not wait; we must apply, develop, and refine them right now," he says. Senol Jadik holds a constructive view of AI, suggesting it should be seen as an assistant to human thought rather than a force that replaces humans. "AI will help us achieve a lot. However, delegating thinking entirely to it could lead to intellectual regression. This is a very important issue, especially for the next generation," he states.

According to him, while humanity previously learned to consume information via the internet, today it faces the risk of abandoning thought due to AI. Therefore, technological development must go hand in hand with ethical and educational dimensions. In this context, he considers the establishment of the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development in Kazakhstan a significant and timely decision.

As a highly educated professional, Senol Jadik expressed his readiness to contribute his experience and knowledge to the development of Kazakhstan's healthcare system. His specific proposals include conducting masterclasses in various fields of neurosurgery, participating in working groups aimed at improving the quality of medical education, supporting hospitals in obtaining JCI international accreditation, and a project to unite healthcare experts and technology companies for effective cooperation. In short, the recognition of a Kazakh citizen like Senol Jadik as a leading expert abroad is a great achievement for the nation.
