Today marks a significant milestone in the history of the national press. On February 2, 1913, the first issue of the "Qazaq" newspaper was published in Orenburg by the leaders of the national intelligentsia—Akhmet Baitursynuly, Alikhan Bokeikhanuly, and Mirzhakyp Dulatuly. This publication paved the way for the awakening of national consciousness. Since 2023, this historic date has been officially designated as National Press Day.
Domestic publications that champion national interests and shape public discourse serve as a mirror of society and its spiritual foundation. Even today, newspapers and magazines play a vital role in addressing national issues and promoting generational continuity, language, culture, history, and heritage.
The efforts of publications that share meaningful articles about our compatriots living abroad and ethnic Kazakhs—introducing them to the opportunities available in their historical homeland, Kazakhstan—deserve special recognition.
On this auspicious holiday, we sincerely congratulate the staff of all domestic publications on National Press Day!
