On 10 December 2025, in Almaty, Non-profit Joint-Stock Company «Otandastar Qory» and the Institute of Asian Studies at al-Farabi Kazakh National University signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The document was signed by Mr. A. Zhurkadam, Vice President of Otandastar Qory, and by Prof. G. Kim, Director of the Institute, Doctor of Historical Sciences.
The Institute of Asian Studies, established in 2020, is a research-oriented unit that conducts comprehensive studies on socio-political, economic, and cultural processes across Asian countries. The Institute also examines the situation of Kazakh compatriots abroad and prepares analytical materials for governmental bodies.
By signing the memorandum, both parties expressed their commitment to advancing scientific and cultural-humanitarian cooperation based on the principles of equality and mutual respect. The agreement enables the consolidation of efforts aimed at studying Kazakh communities abroad, preserving their cultural and intellectual heritage, and promoting it within the international arena.
The primary objective of the cooperation is to establish a shared academic platform for the in-depth study of diaspora policy, migration processes, cultural diplomacy, ethnic identity, and the role of diasporas in international relations.

Within the framework of the memorandum, the parties plan to exchange scientific and reference materials, co-organize conferences and round-table discussions, and jointly develop and support research projects related to the Kazakh diaspora. The cooperation also includes preparing a series of reference publications, implementing educational initiatives on diaspora and migration issues, and conducting field studies, expeditions, and sociological and anthropological surveys.
