In 2025, as part of the international project “Uly Dala”, jointly organized by the NJSC “Otandastar Qory” and the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan, a total of 25 works were submitted by Kazakh authors living abroad. Following the decision of the expert commission, nine works of particular literary and scholarly significance have been selected for publication. The book launch is scheduled for November 2025.
Among the winning submissions are works from authors based in China, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and Russia. The selected works include:
These works will contribute to promoting the literature, culture, history, and worldview of Kazakhs abroad. The project not only highlights and disseminates the creative achievements of the Kazakh diaspora but also integrates their works into academic circulation and introduces them to a broader readership in Kazakhstan.
The “Uly Dala” project is an important cultural initiative jointly carried out by the Otandastar Foundation and the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan since 2023. Its main goal is to collect, preserve, and popularize the literary heritage of Kazakh writers living abroad, strengthen cultural and historical continuity, and contribute to the development of national literature. Within the project framework, 10 books were published in 2023, followed by 9 books in 2024.
