Alanya, August 8, 2025 – An event dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet, philosopher, and educator Abai Qunanbaiuly was held in Abai Park. The event was attended by representatives of Kazakh and Turkish cultural communities, as well as local authorities.
The solemn event was organized by the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Antalya with the support of the Alanya Municipality and the Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Alanya, Ahmet Cebeci. Among the honored guests were Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik and other representatives of local government bodies.
The event began with a flower-laying ceremony at the Abai monument in the park. This ritual became a symbol of respect and recognition for the poet’s immense contribution to Kazakh culture and world literature.
In his congratulatory speech, Kuат Kanafeev, Consul General of Kazakhstan in Antalya, noted the contribution of compatriots who preserve the Kazakh language, traditions, and history on hospitable Turkish soil, and emphasized the connection to the values promoted by Abai.
The program featured recitations and performances of Abai’s poems and songs translated into Turkish, allowing the local audience to feel the spirit of Kazakh culture and philosophy. In addition, a quiz on Abai’s life and works was held, in which both adults and children took part, demonstrating deep knowledge about the great poet and his legacy.
This significant day became an important step in strengthening cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Türkiye, as well as in widely promoting Abai’s heritage among the Turkish public.
