Since the beginning of the year, 7.5 million foreigners have entered Kazakhstan. This is 600,000 more than during the same period last year, according to figures announced at a government meeting, Tengrinews.kz reports.
Acting Minister of Internal Affairs Bauyrzhan Alenov stated that the number of foreign arrivals in the country continues to grow each year.
In the first half of 2025, more than 7.5 million people entered Kazakhstan (while 7.2 million left), an increase of 600,000 compared to last year. Around 90 percent of them came from CIS countries.
Currently, 212,000 foreigners reside in Kazakhstan permanently. Most live in Almaty – 42,000, Almaty region – 32,000, Astana and Karaganda region – 17,000 each.
There are 430,000 foreigners staying temporarily in the country. Among them:
for employment – 360,000
for family reunification – 17,000
for education – 8,000
for private purposes or tourism – 44,000
