From January through April 2025, the Kandastar Information Support Center received a total of 734 inquiries.

Nearly half of all inquiries came from Uzbekistan – 49.5% of the total. A significant portion of requests also originated from Mongolia (18.4%). A considerable number of inquiries were received from Russia (10.2%) and China (9.9%). A smaller share came from Turkmenistan (2.7%), and the remaining 9.3% of inquiries originated from other countries. These figures indicate that the greatest interest is shown by compatriots from Uzbekistan and Mongolia, while a notable number of inquiries also come from those in Russia and China.

Requests were recorded across all regions of Kazakhstan. The largest number of inquiries was registered in Turkistan Region, with 216 requests. High volumes were also observed in the city of Astana (126 inquiries), the city of Almaty (94), Almaty Region (66), and the city of Shymkent (51). These five locations account for the highest numbers of inquiries from repatriates. In other regions, the number of requests was lower; however, interest in returning is evident nationwide.

The subjects of inquiries were distributed as follows. The most frequent questions were about obtaining “kandas” status (the official repatriate status), which accounted for 40.9% of all inquiries. The second most common topic was education and culture, comprising 23.3% of inquiries. Questions regarding obtaining citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan made up 7.8%. Inquiries about benefits available to kandas represented 4.6%, and those about obtaining a residence permit accounted for 4.5%. The remaining inquiries covered various other topics.

These statistics underscore the importance of the Information Support Center’s work and the growing interest of overseas compatriots in returning to their historical homeland and integrating into Kazakhstani society. The Center plays a key role in providing necessary information and assistance, facilitating a smooth relocation and successful adaptation of repatriates in Kazakhstan.
