Recently, the city of Istanbul, Turkey's cultural capital, hosted an award ceremony for theater figures from Turkic countries. This prestigious international event was organized by TÜRKSOY, the Turkish Theaters Association, and the Theater newspaper.
Distinguished guests from around the world, along with renowned Turkish theater professionals, attended the event. Winners were selected in various theater-related categories and received their well-deserved awards.
By the decision of the jury, the title of "The Best Playwright of the Turkic World" was awarded to Duman Ramazan, a Distinguished Artist of Kazakhstan, renowned writer, and playwright.
The honorary award was presented in a solemn ceremony by Sultan Raev, Secretary-General of the international organization TÜRKSOY and a famous writer-playwright, along with Nurhan Uslu, the editor-in-chief of the international Theater publication and a renowned theater critic.
Secretary-General of TÜRKSOY, Sultan Raev, explained why Duman Ramazan was chosen for this prestigious title:
– I have long been familiar with his plays. He possesses a deep understanding of dramatic art, skillfully weaving complex storylines and internal conflicts. His works seamlessly blend historical themes with contemporary issues.
Duman Ramazan is a unique phenomenon in Kazakh drama, an aesthetic force, and a new milestone. His historical plays, such as "Kerei-Zhanibek", "The Dream of Abylai Khan", "Zhoshy Khan", and others, masterfully depict historical perspectives on national values and traditions. The staging of "Zhoshy Khan" at the Kazakh National Drama Theater named after K. Kuanyshbaev in Astana marks a new era in Kazakh theater, – he noted.
The newspaper Qazaq Ädebieti congratulates playwright Duman Ramazan on being named "The Best Playwright of the Turkic World".
