On October 19, 2024, in celebration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Day, a festive concert took place in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The event was organized by the Otandastar Qory with the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Akimat (City Administration) of Almaty.
The concert was held on the beautiful stage of the Dr. Hoch’s Conservatory in Frankfurt, featuring the "Sazgen Sazy" folklore and ethnographic ensemble under the Almaty City Department of Culture. The event was dedicated to promoting the rich spiritual heritage of the Kazakh people and introducing national art to the international community.
The concert program, curated by the ensemble's artistic director, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Bagdat Tilegenov, included Kazakh folk songs and instrumental pieces, as well as classical works that reflected the deep history, vast steppes, and great cultural legacy of Kazakhstan.
The audience enjoyed Latif Hamidi's song "Bul-bul" performed by Nadia Nadenova, as well as Delibes’ captivating "Spanish Bolero" and Imre Kalman's aria from "Silva." Elvira Kashkimbayeva’s performance of the "Zhetysu" piece on the saz-syrnai (traditional Kazakh flute) touched the hearts of the audience, while Zhenis Erzhanov's rendition of the folk song "Zharyam Aydai" revealed the spiritual richness of the Kazakh culture. Other highlights included Gülnaz Nogaybayeva’s performance of Monti's "Czardas" on the kobyz (Kazakh bowed instrument) and Sumbat Alimbetova’s performance of Mozart’s "Turkish March" on the dombra.
The concert drew about 300 spectators, including members of the Kazakh diaspora, local residents, diplomats, and fans of ethnic music. Kazakh compatriots and ethnic Kazakhs traveled from 14 German cities, as well as from the Czech Republic and Norway, to attend this special event. They expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to reconnect with their spiritual homeland and emphasized the importance of such events in fostering cultural ties and strengthening spiritual unity.
Kazakhstan's Consul General in Frankfurt, Taubaldy Umbetbayev, highlighted the significance of sharing Kazakh culture with the international community to strengthen cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Germany. He emphasized that cultural exchange fosters mutual understanding and cooperation between the Kazakh and German peoples. The Consul General added that such events serve as a bridge of friendship between nations and play a key role in preserving spiritual values.
The president of the Otandastar Qory Daniyar Kadyrov, expressed gratitude to everyone who supported the concert's success and stressed the importance of such events in promoting Kazakh art abroad. He highlighted the special role of these initiatives in strengthening the spiritual unity of the diaspora and showcasing the richness of Kazakh culture to the world.
This festive evening introduced the audience to new facets of the spiritual depth and beauty of Kazakhstan’s national culture. The concert became a shining example of how Kazakh spiritual heritage can be carried into the 21st century, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of those who attended.
