An exhibition on calligraphy opened today at the National Centre for Manuscripts and Rare Books. More than 50 samples of historical inscriptions written in Kufic script, copies of "Zobdat-ul-tarikh" of the 13th century on the life of historical figures, manuscripts of the 18th century on the leaders of Turkic peoples of Central Asia are presented at the exhibition.

According to Director of the National Centre of Manuscripts and Rare Books Zhandos Bekdildauli, the exhibition was attended by the strongest calligraphers and restorers of Iran.

During the event, they will exchange experience in restoration and digitisation of ancient manuscripts, cataloguing, systematisation, digitalisation and calligraphy of ancient manuscripts and rare books with specialists from Kazakhstan's archives, libraries and museums.

"Iranian specialists have extensive experience in the restoration of manuscripts and printed books. The presented samples of ancient inscriptions and copies of manuscripts of historical and cultural monuments are selected works of restorers," Ali Akbar Joukar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Kazakhstan, said in his speech.

It should be noted that the events organised by the National Centre of Manuscripts and Rare Books of the Committee of Archives, Documentation and Book Business of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazakhstan will be held during the week.
