The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek and the head of the artificial intelligence department at Core42 Ali Khederi discussed training in AI and attracting Kazakhstani youth to global practice.
Sayasat Nurbek met with representatives of the leading company in the field of artificial intelligence and cloud computing Core42. The goal is the development of artificial intelligence in universities, consideration of issues related to the training of software engineers and data processing specialists, the creation of a digital ecosystem of universities, as well as the exchange of experience in creating a national LLM.
The head of the department acquainted foreign guests with the activities of the Ministry, dwelt in detail on the opening of branches of foreign universities, the Bolashak international scholarship, the Coursera educational platform, and the digitalization of universities.
“Artificial intelligence is an objective reality that is increasingly penetrating into all areas of human life. The sphere of higher education and science is no exception. We need to focus on young people and students. Already world university rankings, like QS Ranking, add the University Digital Maturity Index and readiness for AI. This will give us and the administration of each university a clear picture of whether the educational institution is ready for such a requirement. A project on digital universities has now been launched in pilot mode. Our mission is to build a truly digital university ecosystem,” noted S. Nurbek.
The minister also made a proposal from Ali Khederi to attract final-year students from Yessenov University and the Kazakh-German Institute of Sustainable Engineering Sciences to undertake internships at Core42. In addition, the Kazakh side expressed its readiness to provide the specialists necessary for the company.
Ali Khederi expressed gratitude for organizing the meeting and noted the high level of knowledge and talent of Kazakh students in Abu Dhabi. In their speech, Core42 representatives emphasized the importance of support from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the creation of Kazakh LLM.
