On January 31, as part of the international technology forum Digital Almaty 2025, a panel session titled "National Education Strategy: AI Workforce Development" took place. Experts from Kazakhstan and abroad discussed key challenges and prospects for AI education development.
Presidential Advisor Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev emphasized the strategic importance of AI workforce training across all industries to foster the country's digital economy.
The session was moderated by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the significance of AI education and noted that 20 Kazakhstani universities are already training specialists in this field.
Toju Duke, Founder and CEO of Bedrock AI and Diverse AI, stressed that artificial intelligence should be inclusive and transparent. She emphasized the need to develop technologies that account for societal interests and minimize algorithmic bias.
Richard Stirling, Co-founder and CEO of Oxford Insight, shared insights on AI use in education. He highlighted that AI-powered personalized education systems could significantly enhance knowledge accessibility and tailor learning to individual student needs.
Paul Kim, Director of the Center for Future Education at BIEG China, discussed sustainable models of educational technologies. He noted that innovation and digitalization can not only improve education quality but also make it more accessible to a wider range of students.
Paul Kim also emphasized that Kazakhstani youth possess exceptional talent. He was impressed by the giftedness and potential of students, which was a key factor in selecting Kazakhstan for launching the AI-Sana program.
Experts discussed AI workforce development strategies, emphasizing the importance of practical training, aligning educational programs with market demands, and fostering collaboration between universities, businesses, and the government.
Summarizing the discussion, the minister underlined that Kazakhstan has all the necessary prerequisites to establish an AI-Nation. Close cooperation between the government, businesses, and educational institutions will play a key role in enabling Kazakhstan to take a leading position in AI on the international stage.
