Generative AI courses launched in Kazakhstan universities in collaboration with Google

The country's universities will offer courses on Generative AI, implemented jointly with Google.

A project to train university students in Generative AI technologies was launched today as part of the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Digital Integration and Transformation. Students will be able to take courses for free on the Google Cloud Skills Boost platform, which will help develop skills in the field of generative artificial intelligence.
Leading universities of Kazakhstan will take part in the project, including:

- Kazakh National Agrarian Research University

- Karaganda Technical University named after A. Saginov

- Astana IT University

- Kazakh-British Technical University

- Almaty University of Power Engineering and Communications

- Shakarim University

- Yessenov University

- Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov

- Toraighyrov University

“The joint project with Google is an important step towards improving digital literacy and training specialists with advanced knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence. We hope that this project will become the foundation for further cooperation with Google and will contribute to raising the level of education in Kazakhstan,” said Dinara Shcheglova, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The collaboration with Google is based on a global, comprehensive approach to digital and AI transformation, tailored to the specifics of emerging markets. This approach focuses on education and training for the economy of the future, the implementation of cloud technologies, the modernization of data management systems, and the creation of a favorable regulatory environment for technological development.

“A strategic approach to developing AI skills is the key to Kazakhstan’s successful digital transformation in the AI ​​era. Our joint initiative with the Ministry is aimed at training highly qualified specialists and strengthening the country’s technological potential,” said Olga Skorokhodova, Head of the Department for Interaction with Government Authorities in the Caucasus and Central Asia.

As part of the pilot project, more than 6,000 Kazakhstani students will have the opportunity to master advanced AI skills on the Google Cloud Skills Boost platform. Courses on generative AI will be available as part of the Google Cloud Career Launchpad program.

In addition, Google actively supports the transformation of the education system in Kazakhstan using digital technologies. In the academic year 2022-2023, within the framework of the IT-HUB project, more than 900 students from 11 leading Kazakh universities mastered advanced skills in the fields of AI, cloud technologies and Android platform development.

Google also promotes the development of 14 Google Developer Students Clubs at universities in Kazakhstan.These clubs create an environment for knowledge sharing, project collaboration, and professional development, which helps students not only master new technologies but also become part of the global IT community.
