For the first time, the national prize in the field of journalism "Urker" was awarded to Kazakh-language media abroad

13 November, 2020

On November 13, Nur-Sultan hosted an award ceremony for the winners of the Urker-2020 national prize in the field of print, radio and online journalism.

This year, at the suggestion of the Compatriots Fund and with the support of the Ministry of Information and Social Development, the National Urker Prize was awarded to Kazakh-language media abroad in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Kazinform International Information Agency.

10 candidates from Russia, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Turkey and Iran took part in the competition. By the decision of the jury, the Kazakh-language website https://kaznews.mn/ in the Republic of Mongolia became the winner.

It should be noted that the Compatriots Fund and the Kazinform International News Agency are working together. In 2019, with the support of both parties, a meeting of Kazakh-language media abroad was organized. At the meeting, it was proposed to create an association of Kazakh-language media abroad.

Also in 2020, within the framework of the program of the Ministry of Information and Social Development "Services to support ethnic Kazakhs living abroad and in the Republic of Kazakhstan", a database of more than 80 Kazakh-language media abroad was identified.

Now in 2021 it is planned to create an association of Kazakh-language media abroad.
On behalf of the Otandastar Foundation, we congratulate the site https://kaznews.mn/, which received the first prize of the Urker National Journalism Award for the best Kazakh-speaking media abroad!
