On Tuesday, October 6, the first official meeting of the new composition of deputies is being held in the Tomsk Duma. The agenda includes the election of a new Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the city Parliament.

In total, four candidates are running for the post of Chairman-deputies Yuri Voroshilin, Ksenia Fadeeva, Chingis Akatayev, Vasily Eremin. There are 37 deputies in the city Duma.

The Chairman is elected by secret ballot. According to the correspondent vtomske.ru, for health reasons, MP Igor Samokish is absent from the meeting room. Whether it could be a coronavirus infection or not is unknown, but he is taking part in the meeting via video conference call. After much discussion, it was decided to send members of the counting Commission to Samokish so that He could vote, although the Duma regulations do not provide for this. This decision was supported by 19 deputies.

As a result of the secret ballot, the votes of 37 deputies were distributed as follows:

Chingis Akatayev — 20
Vasily Eremin — 0

Thus, Chingis Akatayev was elected as the new Chairman of the Tomsk Duma, the Duma's counting Commission announced.

Our task together with the administration of Tomsk is to make the life of citizens better. I see the role of the Chairman in coordination and interaction. I want all 37 deputies to be able to say in exactly five years that we have done a lot and we are not ashamed, " Akatayev said after his election.

Recall that Chingis Akatayev was a former Deputy Governor for social policy (2012-2017); he was registered as an individual entrepreneur in the elections.

Since the early 90's Akataev (after graduation) worked in the banking system of the Tomsk region. He worked his way up from a marketing specialist to a branch Manager, Vice-President of the Moscow Bank for reconstruction and development. He was a Deputy of the state Duma of the III convocation, as well as the regional Duma of the IV and V convocations.
